The City’s Parks Department as well as the Bellingham Police Department are aware of this potential action. Unless you have acquired written permission from the City’s acting Parks Director (there is no permitting process for this), this action is illegal and any participants will be prosecuted.

  2. Dear City of Bellingham,

It is my understanding that representatives from Occupy Bellingham are meeting with representatives from you today to discuss exactly these kinds of issues. Hopefully Mr. Leslie Bryson, Acting Director of Bellingham Parks and Rec will be in attendance so the request may be put to him.

  4. Good luck! I'll be there in my capacity as a photojournalist to cover and support! Sorry the COB felt the need to take such an unpleasant line from the outset. We are the 99%!

  5. Dear City of Bellingham, municipal code 8.04.080 written in 1995 is superseded, by the constitutional bill of rights, more specifically, the 1st amendment, which protects the freedom to assemble.
"In United States v. Cruikshank, 92 U.S. 542 (1875), the Supreme Court held that "the right of the people peaceably to assemble for the purpose of petitioning Congress for a redress of grievances, or for anything else connected with the powers or duties of the National Government, is an attribute of national citizenship, and, as such, under protection of, and guaranteed by, the United States."
